Legislative Agenda for AAPI – National Conference 2015

On Thursday, May 14, National ACE (Asian/Pacific Islander American Chamber of Commerce & Entrepreneurship) hosted their 2015 ACE National Conference & Awards Ceremony at the Ronald Reagan Building & International Trade Center. With the theme of “Unite. Learn. Prosper.”, National ACE welcomed over 250 attendees, keynote speakers, and VIP guests to learn more about the Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) business community, important entrepreneur issues, and network with one another.

Held during Asian American & Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, the ACE National Conference introduced key legislative issues that National ACE will focus on throughout the year. Ms. Chiling Tong, Founder and CEO of the International Leadership Foundation (ILF), serves as the Chair of the ACE Policy Committee, which published National Ace’s inaugural Legislative Agenda and disseminated it to key officials in Washington, D.C. The Legislative Agenda calls attention to the AAPI business sector’s interests and concerns, including: developing opportunities for AAPI small businesses; engaging AAPIs in trade and commerce activities; supporting immigration policies that help grow AAPI businesses and reunite families; collecting and acting on meaningful data; and increasing opportunities for AAPIs in the workforce.

The conference kicked off early in the morning with several introductory remarks and keynote speeches, continued with three armchair dialogues and the Awards Luncheon, and concluded with four workshops. Please see below for highlights from the conference.
